A focus group with 12 participants** was conducted in March, 2022, to determine the impact of using core Take2Minutes activities to boost one’s positivity and overall wellbeing.
Participants took a Modified Differential Emotions Scale (mDES) test in the beginning and at the end of the 31-day period. The mDES measures the ratio of positive and negative emotions a person experiences over a given time period.
Throughout the month, each person was instructed to complete the following Take2Minutes activities (in addition to receiving daily positive SMS messages):
21 days of gratitude journaling
15 days of Three Good Things (a program to check in daily on three positives from the day)
Guided Meditations (optional)
: initial mDES Score for participant
: mDES Score for participant after 31 days of using Take 2 Minutes
* participant did not complete the assigned activities
** one participant did not complete the final mDES questionnaire

Participants who consistently use the tools provided by Take2Minutes experience significant improvements in their positivity. Most of them more than doubled their score.
The results show that using Take2minutes drastically improves positive emotions, which has significant effect on mental well-being.
The numbers:
100% of participants who completed the prescribed activities showed significant mDES increases
The average improvement across participants was over 200%
75% of participants completed additional mindfulness activities (e.g. guided meditations)
The only participants who did not improve their mDES score did not complete the prescribed activities
